Salary:  CI $35,916 – CI$48,276 per annum

The Lands & Survey Department of the Cayman Islands Government has an immediate vacancy for an Assistant GIS Officer in the National GIS team.  The post-holder will facilitate the creation of customized and statutory mapping as necessary.  They will also provide ongoing data collection, collation, maintenance and expertise in support of the National Geographic Information System (NGIS).

Applications are invited from candidates with a strong GIS skill set that emphasizes the ability to work effectively within a team of GIS specialists in a production-oriented environment. Central to the role will be the utilization of the ESRI suite of GIS software for the provision of mapping expertise for customized and statutory mapping. Additionally, the role assists in the creation, update and maintenance of numerous data layers of land information and associated metadata as needed.

Candidates should possess a minimum of a Diploma or Certificate in Cartography, GIS (or equivalent) and at least 2 years relevant industry experience in a Land Records GIS environment.  A good level of proficiency in GIS (specifically in relation to data and database manipulation for mapping purposes) and knowledge and practical skills in the use of Microsoft’s Office suite of products is essential.

Benefits will be determined in accordance with the Public Service Management Law (2005) and Regulations (2006), the Public Service Pensions Law (2004 Revision) and the CINICO Health Plan, which includes non-contributory pension and health benefits.

GIS PROGRAMMER ANALYST

Salary:  CI $49,428- $66,480 per annum

This position is for a full-time, salaried GIS Programmer/ Analyst to be responsible for the development and support of software solutions which improve the use of the National Geographic Information System (NGIS).

Applications are invited from exceptional candidates with a strong GIS skill set that emphasizes the ability to develop technically sound applications using a wide range of development tools and technologies. The applicant should enjoy working in a creative agile team environment with technical team-members to plan, develop, test, and deliver innovative spatial products to our users.  A desire to learn and pick up new skills quickly is essential.

The applicant should possess a degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems or related programming discipline, plus 5 years relative industry experience, ideally within in an environment that has given significant exposure to spatial concepts. The ability to apply programming concepts to geospatial information is a fundamental requirement.

Demonstrable experience in the use of many of the following is considered essential:

·          NET Programming (C#)

·          Agile Development Methodologies

·          Source Control Systems such as GIT

·          Experience in a Continuous Development Environment

·          ESRI ArcGIS Server 10.x
